In November 1, 2023，Jiangsu Haizhongzhou Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. marked another significant milestone today with the smooth launch of the deck barge "Yikun Hechuang." The completion of this specialized vessel highlights the shipyard's technical expertise in the construction of dedicated ships and provides additional capacity support for heavy-lift water transport in the Yangtze River Delta region.
In the morning light, the "Yikun Hechuang" slid steadily into the water along the slipway, its hull glistening with rippling waves as it met the river. The vessel was entirely designed and constructed by Jiangsu Haizhongzhou Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.. Despite challenges such as this summer’s prolonged heatwave, the project team ensured construction quality and progress by optimizing the construction plan and improving technical processes.
The vessel was specifically designed to meet the transportation needs of heavy cargo, such as wind power equipment and large machinery. Its spacious deck and reinforced securing system enable safe and efficient handling of oversized goods. During construction, the engineering team introduced multiple innovative techniques, achieving a first-time pass rate of 98.7% for deck welding, demonstrating the shipyard’s exceptional technical standards.
It is reported that the "Yikun Hechuang" will commence operations along the Jiangsu-Shanghai route after the completion of subsequent outfitting work. Its deployment is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency of heavy-lift logistics in the Yangtze River Delta, injecting new momentum into regional economic development.
